In 2010 the city of Görlitz approched WBG Sanierungs-und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Görlitz mbH (from 1th July 2014 as KommWohnen Service GmbH) with a request to actively participate in the developmtent of Berzdorfer See area. Ouch concept was approved by City Council in early 2012. Part of this concept was, among other things, to open as soon as possible the port as well as the creation of the structural conditions for a long-term operation, i.e. a water sports centre with port and peninsula.
In June 2013 we acquierd the harbour and adjacent areas Tauchrlitz / Hagenwerder. The first activity after the transfer of ownership in 2013 was the taking over the operation of the port for the rest of the sailinig season. In that year we already had 25 boats in the port.
At the same time, in 2013, Europastadt Görlitz GmbH (EGZ) and the proven tourism expert Johan Friedrich Engel were commissioned to develop a tourist guiding ideas for Lake Berzdorf.
Meanwhile, the book has bees presented to public and a political body to disscusscion. The City of Gorlitz commissioned the EGZ to examine Mr Engel‘s proposals with regart to how they could be implemented.
The number of boats in the port of Görlitz increases year by year. In the fall of 2017, we installed jetties equipped with a power columns. In addition to lighting, the jetties also significantly facilitate the charging of electrically powered boats. After several years of cooperation with external operators, KommWohnen decides to take over the operation of the port on April 1, 2018.
At the beginning of the 2018 season, a kiosk was opened in a modern and multi-tasking port building. At the end of the same year, the coffeehouse also opens. In this way, the port is also attractive for guests who do not have a boat. We’re also planning to continue to contribute to the revitalization of the Berzdofer See area and to create new jobs through further investments in the development of tourist infrastructure.
