Finally. And: you don’t see something like this every day. The same was said by many onlookers who gathered this morning at the port.
Two gigantic mobile cranes stood at the quay wall, in front of it a tractive unit – and on top of it the “MS Oberlausitz”, the first passenger ship for Lake Berzdorfer. For several years, this former Rhein steamer was docked near the Blue Lagoon to carry out a general overhaul. Now the ship was finally allowed to get on the water.
Watched by several cell phone cameras, it took only six minutes for the two cranes to lift the 48-tonne ship. The owner of the ship Stefan Gläsel had been preparing for this day for a long time, but later he looked satisfied. “We moor at the Blue Lagoon, where the interior work was done” he says. However, it is still uncertain when cruises with the MS Oberlausitz will be possible.
